-open your notepad & copy the following:

X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*

-now go to 'save as" option & select the "Save as Type" to "all files" instead of "Text document (*.txt) "
-save this file as a name: eicar.com
-Your antivirus start running automatically and configured correctly, when you try to save the file.
-your antivirus is ok else you have to change or update it.
